Happiness depends upon ourselves.
Exams at the Royal Marsden
If a pupil is due to sit public exams (such as GCSEs, AS or A-levels) during their time as an inpatient, we can arrange for them to sit these at the hospital as STARS is a registered examination centre. It is important that parents/carers let us know as soon as possible if they think their child will need to sit an exam at The Royal Marsden, and ask their home school to provisionally set up a transfer of candidacy to STARS (we can confirm or cancel at short notice if their circumstances suddenly change).
Pupils may be entitled to support such as extra time and rest breaks in exams. The home school must apply for these access arrangements in advance of the exam. A consultant or clinical nurse specialist can provide any medical evidence that is needed to support this application. These arrangements will continue to apply if the pupil takes their exam at the hospital instead of at their home school.
