STARS Management Committee Annual Statement 2018-2019

The important and core functions of the STARS Management Committee, like a governing body, are to

  • Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
  • Oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is well spent.

The STARS Management Committee has met regularly, with three meetings each term this academic year and it has fulfilled its regular duties of overseeing many aspects of the service, including pupil progress and attendance, staffing, finance, the quality of provision for all pupils, ensuring high standards of safeguarding and approving development of the premises and facilities at Drapers Centre as well as projects in the schoolroom at Royal Marsden Hospital Oak Centre.

In addition this year, in September 2018, the STARS Management Committee were involved in the very positive Ofsted inspection of STARS, when inspectors met with members of the Management Committee including the Chair.

Ofsted inspectors noted:

Members of the management committee have considerable educational expertise and use these skills very effectively to steer the school’s improvement journey.
